Arts Exhibition ´Bathing women´

05 06 tot 05 07 |2009

Praça Tribunal | TÁBUA | Portugal

From June 5th until July 5th 2009, Tracks Adventures organises in Tábua the exposition Bathing women´; or: ´Mulheres tomando banho´. The exposition has been inspired on the song ´Vrouwen in bad´by  the Portuguese singer Fernando Lameirinhas and the Belgian singer  Raymond van het Groenewoud.

At the central square with the fountains in Tábua, work of the Dutch artists Els van der Heijden and Petri Bloemkolk will be exposed. Els presents her interpretations of the theme in ceramics, Petri in a combination of photography and paint. In some work the artistic qualities of both artists have been united.

The art work is exhibited in several windows of the Praça Tribunal in Tábua. Further information on the works is available at the offices of Estate Agency Terra dos Rios and Imobiliária Casa Campestre, both situated to the square.

The Artists

Petri Bloemolk (1944) graduated from the teacher training institute and studied at the school of photography. Her interest in the muse encouraged her drawing and painting courses to follow ao at ChristSchool. A combination of photography and painting was obvious.
Several years she has been working as deputy director of a school for teachers of kindergarten. After this management position she has been working as professor pedagogy and educational sciences to a teacher training institute.
The stimulation of the visual power is one of her cherished ideals.

Els van der Heijden (1953) discovered her fascination for working with clay at the kindergarten, but according to the nuns the material gave to much rubbish... During her training at the teacher training school for handicrafts in 1976, she has been confronted with the old love of working with clay again. Since then, the passion remained and led to take  various courses and workshops. Els has an own art studio where she, in addition to ceramics, creates sculptures in bronze.
She is employed as a teacher of educational science at the Avans Hogeschool in Breda.
